AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS WILL BE PLAYED BEHIND CLOSED DOORS – CAF

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, says all 48 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between November 9 and 17 will be played behind closed doors because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement from the continental football governing body said the goal is to ensure uniformity of safety across Africa, adding that hence the need for matches to take place in a safe and secure environment without spectators.

Two matchdays of the 2022 AFCON qualifiers are scheduled during a nine-day period from this Monday to November 17 and the final two rounds will be played in March next year.

The Super Eagles will take on the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on Friday, November 13, behind closed doors.
