ALGERIA REPLACES IVORY COAST AS OPPONENTS OF SUPER EAGLES IN UPCOMING INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY MATCH

African champions Algeria has replaced Ivory Coast as the opponents of the Super Eagles in the first of two international friendly matches arranged in Austria next month.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), made this known in a statement on its official website yesterday.

The Eagles were due to play the Elephants of Ivory Coast on October 9 in Austria but the tie was called off due to internal problems in the Ivorian Football Federation.

The statement said the FIF had on Wednesday sent a letter to the NFF regretting their inability to send a team to Austria for the game as earlier agreed.

However, a phone call from President of the NFF Amaju Pinnick to his Algerian opposite number Kheireddine Zetchi secured a fourth meeting between the Eagles and the Fennecs in three years.
