CLERIC URGE FG TO TAKE RELIGIOUS LEADERS INTO CONFIDENCE

A Christian clergy reverend Azaki Nash has called on the federal government to take religious leaders into confidence in order to tackle the insecurity challenges across the country.

Pastor Nash made the call in an interview with journalists in Abuja says the government needs to interface with the religious leaders on their missions and agenda for proper understanding by their various members.

He said this will help in communicating the government agenda in a better way to the people at the grassroots.

According to him, there is a need for governments to live up to their constitutional responsibilities of safeguarding life and properties of their citizens.

He charged the government to review the architecture of the security agencies, adding that there have been lamentations that security agencies are overwhelmed or inadequate.

His words, “The start point is for the government to take the religious leader into confidence. I believe that when the federal government begins to interface with religious leaders, share their plans and vision with religious leaders, the religious leaders will designate it to their various members and there will be that better understanding.

Speaking on the social vices in the country, Pastor Nash enjoined ministers of the gospel to ensure that their members live by the tenet of religious faith.

He encouraged Nigerians, particularly Christians not to be found indulging in the vices.

‘’Separation is not the solution but I think calling for separation is an expression of frustration. Everyone knows that we are stronger and better together than individuals. God has deposited good things in each region of the country. It is when we are together we can aggregate the resources God has endowed us with. So we are better and stronger together. Separation is not in anybody’s interest,’’ he said.
