FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY ADMINISTRATION SHUTS DOWN FOUR PARKS OVER COVID-19 VIOLATIONS

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has sealed off about four Recreational Parks and is to prosecute about 12 persons over COVID-19 guidelines violations.

This followed a monitoring exercise by the FCT Covid-19 Guidelines Enforcement Taskforce led by the Head, Media, and Enlightenment of the Task-Force, Mr. Ikharo Attah.
Speaking to newsmen after the seal-off exercise, Head, Media, and Enlightenment of the FCT COVID-19 Taskforce, Mr. Ikharo Attah explained that the order to seal off the four gardens for a period of two weeks was issued by the FCT Mobile Court for contravening PTF COVID-19 regulations regarding the operation of bars, night clubs, gardens, and the likes.

Mr. Attah also disclosed that about 12 persons earlier arrested at the four gardens very late in the night, would be made to appear before the Court for the determination of their COVID-19 offenses and judgments after the expiration of the two week-seal off.
While advising other gardens and parks to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines, Mr. Attah hinted that his men would focus on night clubs, vowing that they would have it tough unless they comply with the regulations given by the Presidential Taskforce on VOVID-19.

It would be recalled that the FCT Covid-19 Guidelines Enforcement Taskforce, alongside the FCT Parks and Recreation Department, had before Christmas last year, held a meeting with park owners in the territory where a plea was made to the operators to adhere to all guidelines as spelled out by the PTF on Covid-19.
