FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PLEDGES TO GIVE FIVE BILLION NAIRA TO MINERS ASSOCIATION

  1. Federal Government has pledged to give full access of the five Billion Naira intervention fund to Miners Associations of Nigeria.
    The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr Olamilekan Adegbite disclosed this when he received in audience the five Miners Associations of Nigeria in Abuja.
    Mr Adegbite said Government is willing to support the associations in order to promote the sector and provide employment opportunities for the people.

    He said Miners are not miscreants and therfore should be given utmost respect, adding that minors miners would be carried along so they can get benefit of their labor.

    Speaking, the former Governor of Bauchi state and the Chairman, miners for Buhari and Osinbajo said solid mineral can make all the difference and contribute as much as Agriculture can in taking people out of poverty.

    He said with the policies the ministry would implement, the associations have something to contribute positively for the growth and development of the sector.
    Our correspondent Joy Itiekhao reports that the five miners associations comprises of Gold Dealers association of Nigeria, miners for Buhari and Osinbajo, Quarry and sand dredgers association of Nigeria and women in mining.
