NFF CONSIDERS LEGAL OPTION TO REVIEW FIFA’S BAN ON SAMSON SIASIA

By Ifesinachi Ekweme
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that it is reviewing the recent life ban imposed on former Super Eagles player and coach Samson Siasia, by the World Football governing body -FIFA.

The Football Federation said its lawyers have started to review the decision by the FIFA Ethics Committee on Siasia, which on Friday announced that it had placed a life ban from all football-related activities on him.

In a statement made available to the media, Acting President of NFF, Seyi Akinwunmi, declared that the Federation had already reached out to the former U20, U23 and Super Eagles head coach and is aware that he is receiving proper legal advice.

Barrister. Akinwumi revealed that NFF was shocked to hear the news of the ban and has since received documents including the Motivated Decision, which has been handed over to lawyers of the Football Association for legal advice.

The Acting President of NFF added that while the body respects FIFA’s processes, the least they can do is to make themselves available to Samson Siaisia and offer him support.

It could be recalled that the former Super Eagles player and coach Samson Siasia was on Friday handed a life ban by World Football governing body FIFA, restraining him from participating in all football-related activities after the adjudicatory chamber of their independent Ethics Committee found him guilty of a match-fixing probe.
