Operatives of the Nigeria police have re-arrested alleged notorious kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu Bala popularly known as ‘Wadume’.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba in Abuja.

According to the statement, Wadume was re-arrested in the late hours of 19th August, 2019 in his hideout at Layin Mai Allo Hotoro area of Kano State.

It could be recalled that the police had been on an aggressive manhunt for the suspect, since August 6, following the unfortunate incident which resulted in the brutal murder of three police officers and two civilians in Taraba State.

Reports say the suspect, who was appropriately restrained at the time of the incident, was subsequently released by his military men after they had destroyed the restraining handcuffs.

Confirming the story, Wadume who spoke in Hausa confessed to having been released by the army in a widely circulated video published by the Nigeria Police Force verified twitter handle.

Wadume said in Hausa that the police came to arrest him and after, the army chased after them and opened fire. He added that the soldiers took him to their Headquarters and cut off his handcuffs before he went back to his house and the police came to re-arrest him.

Commenting on the re-arrest of Wadume, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, commended the police operatives for their painstaking-efforts in re-arresting the suspect.

He expressed his profound gratitude to all Nigerians for their unparalleled show of love and empathy to the Force and the families of the officers and patriotic civilians who paid the supreme price in the service of their fatherland.
