PROTOCOLS WILL NOT BE RELAXED AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS – PTF

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has revealed that all COVID-19 protocols will not be relaxed ahead of the Christmas season.

This was revealed by the national coordinator of the PTF, Dr  Sani Aliyu, during the joint national briefing of the taskforce in Abuja.

While speaking on international travels, the national coordinator advised all holiday seekers to suspend their trips and stay in the country as Nigeria would ensure that every incoming passenger would undergo the travel rules in the country.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Mr.  Boss Mustapha, expressed concern over the mental state of survivors of COVID-19 in the country.

He said, the PTF on Covid-19 is following reports from researches around the world regarding the state of psychiatric health of survivors and has intensified plans for in-country response under the treatment and post-treatment regimes.

He noted that the number of COVID19 cases in the country has been fluctuating lately and that is an indication that the nation is not out of the woods yet.

The Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, also advised both incoming and outgoing travellers to suspend their travels if it was not necessary.

Dr Ihekweazu also said that apart from COVID-19, other diseases like Ebola and yellow fever are growing in Congo DR, making it important to suspend all non-essential travels.
