SOUTH AFRICA’S HEALTH MINISTER AND WIFE TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

South Africa’s health minister Zweli Mkhize and his wife Dr. May Mkhize have tested positive for the novel coronavirus as cases of the virus increases in the country.

The minister made this known through his official Twitter handle stating that he took the test following mild symptoms of the virus.

South Africa’s Minister Zweli Mkhize said he is in quarantine with his wife and he is optimistic about their recovery.

The minister urged South Africans to continue adhering to health protocols such as wearing face masks, social distancing, and washing or sanitizing their hands as the country has made significant strides in its fight against the pandemic.

South Africa used to be among the top six most-affected countries in the world, is now the 12th most-affected with the highest number of cases on the continent.

Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), John Nkengasong has wished the minister and wife a speedy recovery.
