UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD DEVELOPS CHEAPER COVID-19 VACCINE

The University of Oxford has developed a cheaper coronavirus vaccine with an easier mode of storage following Pfizer and Moderna.

The UK prime minister Boris Johnson applauded the development adding that the UK government has pre-ordered a hundred million doses of the vaccine, which is enough to immunize fifty million people.

The vaccine is said to have seventy percent efficacy as more than 20,000 volunteers were involved in its trial, half in the UK, the rest in Brazil.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the vaccine was developed in ten months and there are still further safety checks ahead.

He added that the announcement has taken the world closer to the time when vaccines can be used to bring an end to COVID-19.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the UK is ready to have an unprecedented mass immunisation campaign that dwarfs either the annual flu or childhood vaccination programmes.

He added that Care home residents and staff will be first in the queue, followed by healthcare workers and the over-80s.
